About David Taylor

My name is David Taylor, and I’ve been residing in Buffalo County, Wisconsin since 2015. Before becoming a proud Wisconsinite, I grew up in Michigan and went to college at Valparaiso University in Indiana. I was lucky enough to meet my future wife while in school, and she agreed to follow me around while I served as a Navy Officer. We were fortunate to be able to grow our family and experience life in Florida, Virginia, and California before Jeanette led me back to her hometown in Wisconsin. In the last five years, our little family has become part of the C-FC School District as well as various youth groups, including Girl Scouts, PYAA, Boy Scouts, and Pirate Baseball - our kids do not like to sit still for long!

When we started to look at purchasing our home in 2014, it was hard to know where to start. Over the next few months, I’ll share the good, the bad, and the funny parts of our house hunting story.

Now that we’ve found ourselves on the other side of that process, I want to help you, your friends and family get excited about real estate! Whether you are looking in Holmen, Onalaska, Trempealeau, or Arcadia Wisconsin I can help. If you are looking in Minnesota then I can connect you with a great agent in your area of choice.

  • Looking to sell your home?  I can help by doing thorough comparative analysis, building and executing the right marketing plan, and in general destressing the entire process
  • Looking to buy a home?  I can help get you access to home viewings, advise on the positives and negatives of each property, guide you through the offer process, and negotiate on your behalf
  • Looking to invest? Let me be your eyes and ears for properties that could be great cash flow investments or flipping opportunities
  • Looking to move out of state? Great, let me connect you with an amazing local realtor you can trust to help you anywhere in the world

What is Buyer Agency?

Early in the home buying process, when you work with an agent they will ask you to sign a Buyer’s Agency Agreement.
You might be hesitant to sign and that is okay because most of us don’t know what that agreement entails. I’m here to tell you that you WANT to sign a buyer’s agency agreement.
Now, why is this good for a buyer? Let’s say for the last three weeks, you and I have been working together. I know your preferences, I know your kids and your dogs. We make a great team and we have found your family’s dream home! It is now time to make the offer. However, you haven’t signed a Buyer Agency yet, and so despite the last three weeks…... I am not your agent. I am the seller’s agent.

Wait! What?

That’s correct. Even though I have never met the seller, I don’t know them, and I don’t know anything about them. Yet, I represent them. Until you formally make me your buyer agent by signing a buyer agency, I legally represent the seller.
When you sign with me, I am now YOU agent!

How Many Beds is Just Right?

After a long day of work for most of us coming home is one of the best feelings. Whether you are looking to upgrade or downsize one of the main things a real estate agent is going to discuss with you is bedrooms; in particular how many.

When starting your house hunt it’s important to know how many rooms you will need. Are you looking for each kid to have their own? Would you like to have an office space w/ a window? How about an extra guest room.

Pro-tip #1: Know how many rooms you are looking for, and then subtract one when searching online. So if you want 3 bedrooms, do a search for 2+. The reason is for a space to be classified as a “bedroom” it must meet the certain requirements (We will discuss specifics on a future post). Space might not “count” as a bedroom, but most people would functionally use it as one. Especially if it’s just an extra office or guest room.

Pro-tip #2: Just because the description says it has 4 bedrooms, doesn’t mean that it does.

Difference Between a Good Realtor and a Great One

For most of us, a home is the largest purchase we will ever make in our lives. This is stressful, but it can also be fun! The difference between choosing a good realtor and a great realtor can mean $10,000s saved.

Unfortunately, choosing just a good realtor could mean extra hours spent correcting errors, and weeks of headache and heartache. It could mean the difference between getting your dream home...and your second choice.

There are dozens of things that all realtors have in common, but in today’s episode, I’m going to focus on the things that make someone a GREAT realtor.

A great realtor cares - You deserve to be more than a number. The best realtors should not look down on you, but rather be understanding and supportive of your limitations and requirements. When everything is going crazy, having someone there to look at you as a person and say “No worries, I’ve got you” can make all the difference.

A great realtor knows their stuff.
