Quick cleaning tips for a last-minute showing

Clean before home showing

Unlike an open house, you don't always get a lot of time to prepare your home for a showing appointment. While it helps to be proactive and maintain a clean home when it's on the market, that's not always possible. Here are some last-minute tips to instantly tidy up your home so that it shows well.

Shared spaces

In the family room, make stacks purposeful. There's no quicker way to bring order to a cluttered coffee table than a few neat piles of books or magazines. Reposition throw pillows to create instant symmetry and improve the room's visual appeal.

Kitchen and bathroom

In the kitchen and bathroom, be sure to clear countertops of clutter. You can use a tray to corral loose items that might otherwise look sloppy.

Bedrooms

In the bedroom, storage baskets are a speedy way to divide and conquer the clutter. Also make sure that the beds are made and clothes are put away.
