About West Side St. Paul, MN

The West Side community (St. Paul’s District 3) is actually located to the south of the city—the community gets its name because it sits on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The West Side is home to one of the largest Hispanic communities in the Twin Cities, and boasts some of St. Paul’s top attractions, including the historic Wabasha Street Caves, which provide a glimpse back into the city’s 1930s gangster era, and Harriet Island Regional Park with direct access to the Mississippi River. Here you will also find the District del Sol, an area committed to maintaining the neighborhood’s Latino heritage. One of the city’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations takes place in the West Side community. This large outdoor festival features music, food, and dancing to celebrate the area’s Mexican heritage.
